(PROLOGUE) A New Day

It's a new day in Smallville, Kansas. The birds are chirping and the people are greeting each other warmly. Everything seems to be at peace...everyone is happy. You, whoever you are, find yourself either looking out the window at the sunshine, or walking down the street; maybe you're in a jail cell, or in a lovely home; or maybe you don't have a home, all you know is, it's a normal day, nothing has been out of the ordinary for over a decade. The Batman died with his legacy years ago, his mansion and all his other belongings are given to whoever was left in his will. Superman left the day he flew too close to the sun to save the world. The Flash retired and lives in Central City in the same neighborhood as Dinah Lance. It is said Wonder Woman left for Thymescira for good. The age of heroes ended that day fifteen years ago, the day the day Trigon nearly ended the world, the day the Justice League ended, the day the world changed forever. Heroes, Villains, and other gimmicks and agendas haven't been active since then, many of them hung their capes and masks. It seems there is no need of heroes or champions or even monsters anymore...until recently.

Strange rumors and happenings have been running amok in Smallville and other rural places just outside of Metropolis, so far there haven't been very many incidents in other places such as Gotham and Central City. Rumors include an unusually increasing number of missing people, and sightings of oddities. The most recent rumor is of the founding of several dead bodies not too far from a crash site. The citizens of Smallville are worried and it has quite recently become the talk of the town. The people of Metropolis haven't been too concerned yet but there is still some talk going on. Whatever it is, it's certainly a growing issue.

OOC (PLEASE READ):

This is in fact a DC Free Roam roleplay. However I am aware of the issue of not having much to do, or coming into this pattern of standing on rooftops and making your own crime scenes or not having a valid reason to be in a certain place. The truth is that is up to you to find a reason, if you're a villain you are not obligated to always go out and wreak havoc, and if you're a hero, you're not obligated to always be standing on rooftops and patrolling the city.

This rp will slowly grow out into several cities but for now, you start off in Smallville (and yes there is a downtown for Smallville so youre not only limited to small buildings.). As the story continues you will gain access to more locations such as Metropolis and Gotham, however they will come into play once the story includes them. This is so you have free roam, but not too much too quickly to the point where you find yourself bored.

There will also be motivation for heroes and villains so it feels as though they are working up to something, rather than following the repeating routine and fighting each other in the streets all the time. For example, there will be opportunities to take over the city for Villains, or perhaps taking advantage of a movement or event in a story. There will also be plenty of rumors/happenings in the rp so roleplayers both hero and villain can sign up for the event and all could intertwine in the neutral event.

I understand free roams are a stretch, but I would like to try this formula with you all for a new roleplay experience. Please, get creative, make rivals, build on your characters depth and social/in battle roleplay. Have fun!
